The DJ side of the story began in 1997 when N8N got his first set of turntables and a mixer for his bar-mitsvah. He started mixing house music, hip-hop, funk, soul and R&B. From a young age Nathan was hosting club nights, at first in his parents basement performing with his friends and by the time he was 16 he started DJ’ing at private events such as birthdays and other celebrations.
He got his first break mixing at The Bar Room a local hotspot lounge bar in his home town of Antwerp. The next step was to manage a club nights at the local Jewish community center and later he helped his best friend organise events such as Mob Nights, a mob themed nightlife events that drew thousands of youngsters over the years.
Capturing the attention of major festivals such as Tomorrowland & Laundry Day where N8N became famous for entertaining the crowds as an DJ/MC with sing-a-long’s, moonwalking and stage dives, some even claim he came up with the sit-downs.
In 2006 The Love Below also known as your monthly rendez-vous with Soul was born.
Big names like DJ Jazzy Jeff (The fresh Prince), DJ Premier (Gangstarr), DJ ?uestlove (The Roots), DJ Cash Money (DMC world champion), DJ Maseo (De La Soul), DJ Rashida (official touring DJ for Prince, Bruno Mars) performed at his club nights.
The Love Below quickly became a household name in the Antwerp nightlife scene and continues to take place to this day.
Over the years N8N who became known as both a singer and DJ was asked to perform at afterparty’s for Nile Rodgers and the Chic organisation, private events for antiques mogul Axel Vervoort. International fashion events for brands like Gucci, Essentiel, G-star Raw and Tequila Patron who endorsed him. And from DJ’ing alongside Mark Ronson at the Winter Music Conference in Miami to being asked personally by Prince to organise his aftershows in Brussels in 2010 & 2011 these are certainly the highlights so far.
Today N8N spends the European winters in Cape Town playing at private events and in club but his focus remains on his studio work and live performances, deejaying is afterhours but that doesn’t make it less important! Groove is in the heart
